Hello,
We have a correction from the last newsletter you received on August 14, 2007. The date that appeared on that newsletter was May 24, 2007-we apologize for the confusion.
This fall newsletter is coming out a little earlier then planned but we are so excited about what has been happening over the last few months so we feel like we need to share it with you. As most of you know if you have been on this list serve for awhile, M:TA has been looking for partner companies to both sponsor the work we are doing and to help us take the project into more areas.
In September, a generous donation was made to M:TA by Kirt and Sheri Storch, owners of Certa Pro Painters in North Raleigh. Kirt and Sheri made a decision when they opened their business that they wanted to set aside $25 from every house painted and they knew they wanted that money to end up with a breast cancer organization. Once they had collected enough money their plan was to find a charitable home for that money and as fate would have it-M:TA became that home. Sheri, Kirt and I have talked at length about how this money should be spent and two ideas were agreed upon. First, since they are a Triangle business, the money will stay right here in the Triangle. Second, Sheri and Kirt would like to see all of the hospitals in the Triangle as well as physicians' offices (that currently carry the M:TA book), be able to receive copies of the book at no cost for at least the next six months. This is wonderful news for this area because after our Susan G. Komen NC Triangle Affiliate grant ended at the end of 2006, physicians and hospitals could no longer receive free books and as a result, not as many patients have been getting them since that time. That is all going to change thanks to Kirt and Sheri!
If you are receiving this newsletter and you fall into the group who should receive free books, please email M:TA at info@myselftogetheragain.org and indicate how many you need (English and Spanish) and we will get them to you for as long as we can. You will notice when you receive these booklets that we have made changes to our back cover to acknowledge Kirt and Sheri as our new partners. Thank you so much Kirt and Sheri-what a difference you have made. I should also mention here for those of you that live in Raleigh and the surrounding areas that CertaPro has painted all of their vehicles pink in an effort to support breast cancer awareness. For more information on Kirt and Sheri or CertaPro painters please email them at sstorch@certapro.com
I also would like to mention again in this newsletter how grateful we are to John Knorr, Senior Vice President of Phillips Foods and Seafood Restaurants as well as an owner in Southernboys Concepts. John has been working hard with his PR firm to help raise awareness in Maryland about the M:TA project and he has also chosen several breast cancer organizations for his charitable contributions. We just had our second Maryland event in Annapolis and we shared the evening with Susan G. Komen for the Cure: Maryland as well as Denise O'Neill who started a program at the local Annapolis hospital called Survivors Offering Support (SOS). For more information about this program please visit www.aahs.org Once again we were able to leave many free M:TA books behind for both Komen (Maryland) and SOS. We also made sure that everyone who attended the event left with a gift bag and book. There were many survivors at this event who were so appreciative of John for hosting such a great evening. Thank you John for helping us get M:TA resources into Maryland.

John Knorr, Debbie Horwitz, and Debbie's dad, Alvin Goldstone.
Last, but certainly not least, we would like to extend a special thank you to The Harris - Legacy Foundation and in particular, one of it's directors, Mrs. Lawson H. Worth. Lawson is a special person with a very big heart and she has asked for her family's foundation to give a grant to M:TA. We received this grant last week and wanted to add this to the newsletter. The M:TA Team will discuss with Lawson and her family how they would like to see their grant funds implemented. From what I understand, there is no specification at this point, therefore the team intends to begin using these funds by working to move M:TA's mission forward and that means exposing the project and distributing booklets into other states.
What an amazing time for M:TA! We feel so appreciative and grateful for all of the support we receive and I look forward to telling you about two more grants coming our way in the next few months. Please stay tuned for how those grant funds will be put to use. As always, it is such a pleasure to be able to share with all of you what M:TA is up to and we just hope our books will keep making their way into patient's hands.
